Poppyseed Rye brought together an unusual combination: a neighborhood sandwich shop and floral studio, with catering and events as part of the business as well. They already had an online ordering system that worked for the business, but wanted a website that better reflected the personality and character of the brand.

Working from a provided design, we developed a custom WordPress site that gave Poppyseed Rye a more distinctive home online while keeping their existing ordering system in place. Menus, floral offerings, events, blog content, and other updates could be managed through WordPress, with customers moving easily from the website into online ordering when they were ready.

A Better Front Door

Poppyseed Rye already had the tools they needed to take orders online. What they needed was a better place to introduce the business.

Working from the provided design, we built a custom WordPress site that gave the brand a home of its own. Food, flowers, catering, events, and other parts of the business could each have a place within the site, while clear navigation helped visitors move between them without losing the sense that it was all part of Poppyseed Rye.

When it was time to order, the website could simply connect customers with the existing online ordering system. Rather than replacing something that already worked, the new site focused on what was missing: a more thoughtful, distinctive experience leading up to it.

From Browsing to Ordering

People often look for somewhere to eat from the same device they'll eventually use to place an order. That made the mobile experience an important part of introducing Poppyseed Rye—not simply a smaller version of the desktop site.

Rather than sending visitors directly into the more functional experience of an online ordering system, the website gave them a chance to discover the business first. Photography brought the food, flowers, and physical space into view, while clear paths to menus and ordering made it easy to take the next step when something caught their eye.

Give Your Business a Better Front Door

Your website can do more than point customers toward the tools you use. It can introduce the business, show people what makes it worth choosing, and give them a clear path to take the next step.
